Properties
- Blue color, soluble in water, non-flammable, can gives an irritating fume (gases).
- Anhydrous cuso4 is white but Penta hydrate is blue because gives a d-d transition in ligands in solution.
Application
• Copper has antimicrobial properties and is used in plants and animals as a fungicide and as a foot-bath for the control of foot-rot (copper sulphate 5% to 10% solution) in cattle and sheep.
• 1 litre of copper sulphate solution will treat 200 cows per day.
• Copper sulfate is a mineral salt that is used to fortify foods as well as uses as an antimicrobial agent and anti-caking agent.
