Cuprous Chloride, is the lower chloride of copper, with the formula CuCl. The substance is a white solid sparingly soluble in water, but very soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid.

Application

  • The main use of copper (I) chloride is as a precursor to the fungicide copper oxy chloride.
  • Copper (II) chloride is used as a catalyst for organic and inorganic reactions, textile dyeing and printing mordant, glass and ceramic pigment, wood preservative, disinfectant, insecticide, fungicide, and herbicide, and as a catalyst for hydrogen chlorine processing.
